It seems like every summer there are more things to do than you could possibly have the time for. Whether you are new to the area or have been a Destin local all your life, it can be easy to overlook some of the best summer activities that the area has to offer. So, we did the work and put together a list of Destin events you do not want to miss out on this summer.
Many of these events are reoccuring events that are held once a week. This guarantees a summer full of laughs and fun as well as many memories to be made.
Fat Tuesday
First up is the Fat Tuesday Parade that will be running every Tuesday from May 28th to August 13th. HarborWalk Village will be transformed into the Big Easy with floats, costumes, and of course, beads. Enjoy some live music on the main stage before the parade kicks off at 8:30 pm sharp!
Throwback Thursday
Everyone loves a good throwback, which is why HarborWalk Village has a weekly Throwback Thursday concert series! Enjoy cover bands on the main stage from 7 to 9:30pm followed by a gorgeous fireworks show over the Destin Harbor.
If one concert a week isn’t enough to keep you entertained, then Saturday nights are for Rock the Docks summer event at the Harbor. The concert runs every Saturday from 7 to 9:30pm, leaving plenty of time to hit the town with your friends afterwards.
Fourth of July in Destin
No summer is complete without the perfect Fourth of July plans. Luckily, Destin has everything covered for you! Kick off the celebrations on July 3rd with a trip to Smoke on the Coast, the best BBQ festival around! The event kicks off at 5pm and runs until 10pm, including a firework show at 9:30pm and a BBQ competition that wraps up at 8:30pm. Make sure to bring your A game for the competition, or enjoy the freedom to taste test.
On Independence Day, make your way back to the docks. HarborWalk will be hosting a celebration with live music and other entertainment from 7 to 9pm, culminating in fireworks at 9pm. Afterwards, witness a one of a kind firespinning show starting at 9:30pm.
Destin’s Restaurants
A summer of events near the HarborWalk means a summer within walking distance of a multitude of restaurants! Enjoy fresh seafood in a circus themed environment at Harry T’s Lighthouse, or stop in for quality sushi at Jackacuda’s Seafood and Sushi. Have dinner with a view at the Crab Island Cantina, a latin restaurant that is a sure-to-please crowd favorite. Not to be forgotten is Destin’s very own Margaritaville, boasting a daily happy hour from 10pm until close!
